Paola’s analysis on copper hits a key point: prices have tripled since 2016 while Chile’s production has been flat to down, with output mostly falling since 2020 despite the bull run. Supply constraints from the world’s largest producer are a real structural issue that deserves more attention. These kinds of fundamental imbalances in resources often create longer-term positive catalysts for the sector. Many of my copper mining investments, amongst the ones that failed, were prospects and projects that took between 3-10 years to develop into not only successful operations but profitable trades.
It’s a solid reminder to focus on actual supply/demand dynamics and company-level improvements rather than short-term price noise. Patience through the cycle usually rewards those who stay grounded in the fundamentals.
Valuable deep dive and clear chart.
