The Gem Hunt is Back: Finding What the Market Hasn’t Priced In

I’ve been tracking three signals in miners for a long time: best performers, standout drill results and insider transactions. There’s good reason for it. Substantial opportunities can surface in all three.

At first it was fairly organic and fluid. Over time it became methodical, structured, a real process. I loved it. Gem seemed like the obvious name 💎.

But after about eighteen months, the information started piling up, and the insights were getting harder to see. The process needed a level-up. So I paused it and built a more robust way to track what happened to these companies after they first appeared.

So what is a gem?

Typically, it’s a junior, or occasionally a mid-tier, whose market value hasn’t yet caught up with a real asset or a real change, but where there’s evidence that something is already happening.

In other words, I’m looking for the gap between what’s changing underneath the company and what the market is pricing today.

Ergo, where opportunity may be hiding.

Each week, we’ll look at three potential gems, one from each category, check where juniors sit in the broader market cycle, and pull out an insight from the growing historical dataset.
